Cypress Hill were famous for existence the first Latino hip-hop superstars, just they became infamous for their endorsement of ganja sativa, which really isn't a fiddling thing. Not but did the mathematical group hunting expedition for its legalization, but their tiresome, rolling bass-and-drum loops pioneered a modern, stoned funk that became over-the-top influential in '90s hip-hop -- it could be heard in everything from Dr. Dre's G-funk to the chilly layers of English trip-hop. DJ Muggs crafted the sound, and B Real, with his adenoidal, nasal consonant voice, was responsible for the rhetoric that made them renowned. The propot position became a small ludicrous over time, exclusively there was no denying that the actual music had a strange, eerie exponent, peculiarly on the band's first-class honours degree base two albums. Although B Real remained an effective lyricist and Muggs' musical skills did not belittle, the group's third record album, Temples of Boom, was perceived by many critics as self-parodic, and the mathematical grouping appeared to decay earlier long by and by, though Muggs and B Real regrouped toward the terminal of the '90s to issuance more material.

DVX, the original incarnation of Cypress Hill, formed in 1986 when Cuban-born brothers Sen Dog (born Senen Reyes, November 20, 1965) and Mellow Man Ace hooked up with fellow Los Angeles residents Muggs (born Lawrence Muggerud, January 28, 1968) and B Real (born Louis Freese, June 2, 1970). The grouping began pioneering a spinal fusion of Latin and hip-hop slang, developing their have trend by the time Mellow Man Ace left the mathematical group in 1988. Renaming themselves Cypress Hill afterward a local street, the mathematical group continued to execute more or less L.A., eventually signing with Ruffhouse/Columbia in 1991.

With its stoned beat generation, B Real's exaggerated nasal grizzle, and cartoonish violence, the group's eponymic debut became a sensory faculty in other 1992, several months after its initial exit. The singles "How I Could Just Kill a Man" and "The Phuncky Feel One" became resistance hits, and the group's populace promarijuana stance earned them many fans among the alternative rock community. Cypress Hill followed the record album with Black Sunday in the summertime of 1993, and piece it sounded unmistakably standardised to the debut, it nonetheless became a hit, entrance the record album charts at number one and spawning the crossover voter hit "Mad in the Brain." With Black Sunday, Cypress Hill's audience became preponderantly gabardine, collegial suburbanites, which caused them to lose some support in the hip-hop residential area. The grouping didn't help matters a great deal in 1995, when they added a new member, drummer Bobo, and toured with the fifth Lollapalooza prior to the release of their third album, Temples of Boom. A darker, gloomier involvement than their number one 2 records, Temples of Boom was greeted with interracial reviews upon its fall 1995 release, and spell it ab initio sold advantageously, it failed to father a unfeigned strike single. However, it did do better on the R&B charts than it did on the pop charts.

Or else of capitalizing on their regained hip-hop believability, Cypress Hill lento fell apart. Sen Dog left in early 1996 and Muggs dog-tired to the highest degree of the year functional on his solo album. Muggs Presents the Soul Assassins was released to overpoweringly confirming reviews in early 1997, going away Cypress Hill's future in much dubiety until the release of IV in 1998. Sen Dog had hail punt for the record. He had left because he felt he did non have sufficiency mic clock time, simply after a few years with a rock band he was more than than happy to return. Two age later on, the mathematical group released the double-disc sic Skull & Bones, which featured a disc of hip-hop and a disk of their more than rock-inspired corporeal. Appropriately, the album besides included rock and rap music versions of the single "Whiz," bringing Cypress Hill's bay for believability and crossover hits full dress circle. The ensuing videos for both versions featured many notable rap and john Rock musicians talking or so their profession, and the song was a smash on MTV because of it. In the winter of 2001, the grouping came back with Hopped-up Raiders, another record album to heavily incorporate rock music. Three age later on, the band issued Till Death Do Us Part, which corporate several styles of Jamaican music.

Gwyneth Paltrow quashes adoption rumours

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has denied recent reports that she and husband Chris Martin are considering adopting a child.
The couple, who married in 2003, were rumoured to be planning to add a new sibling to their family for three-year-old Apple and two-year-old Moses.
However, Hollywood star Paltrow insisted that the reports were blown out of proportion. She said: "If somebody asked me at a party, hypothetically, I'd say sure, why not. But I'm not on a list or anything.
"You know how those weekly magazines sensationalise everything. It's not something we have even begun to think about."
The 35-year-old star also revealed that she has no plans to have another baby in the near future.

Enemy singing in the Spain

THE ENEMY played at the new Ibiza Rocks Hotel on Saturday night to kick off
the party island’s season.

Frontman Tom Clarke and the lads performed in front of a San Miguel-swigging
crowd of Brits – with heavy rain across The White Isle making them
feel at home.
UNDERGROUND HEROES – who have a residency at the hotel for the
next month – got the crowd warmed up, as did DJ ROB DA BANK.

They will no doubt be taking full advantage of the island’s clubs
this summer, despite the government slashing party hours by forcing clubs to
shut from 6am to 4.30pm.
Residency ... Underground Heroes
Weirdly though, it waived the new law for the opening weekend and GROOVE
ARMADA headlined Space’s all-dayer yesterday.

After five years as resident DJ at Pacha’s Pure Pacha night, PETE
TONG has moved to Eden to spin on the decks at a night called
Wonderland.

He hit the decks at Pike’s Hotel on Friday to close Ibiza’s
first International Music Summit.

Meanwhile Pete’s Pure Pacha replacement, SANDER KLEINENBERG,
played to a heaving crowd.
I bet Pete hopes he’s made the right decision and it doesn’t
all go, er, Pete Tong.

Boy George denies false imprisonment charge

Singer Boy George has denied a charge that he falsely imprisoned a male escort.
The former Culture Club frontman, real name George O'Dowd, appeared in a London court yesterday where he was ordered to stand trial later this year.
He will fight the charge that he chained escort Audun Carlsen, 28, to a wall. The offence is alleged to have taken place at the star's Shoreditch home in East London last year.
A previous hearing was told the case centres on an "allegation of false imprisonment".
The 46-year-old, dressed all in black and wearing sunglasses, pleaded not guilty during the brief hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court, East London.
Boy George was then ordered to stand trial at the same court in November. It is expected to last five days. He left the court without making any comment.
Boy George, who remains on bail under the condition that he cannot contact the alleged victim, left Culture Club in the late 1990s, before briefly trying a solo career. He later became a club DJ.
In 2006 he was ordered to sweep the streets of Manhattan by a US court after charges stemming from an incident when police responded to his call reporting a burglary and found cocaine in his apartment.

US shows shelve Heath Ledger video

Plans to broadcast footage on US television of the late actor Heath Ledger allegedly at a drug-fuelled party in Hollywood have been pulled "out of respect for his family".
The footage is understood to have been shot two years ago following an awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
US celebrity programmes Entertainment Tonight and The Insider were due to broadcast the footage and had previously aired a promotional clip for the proposed screening.
Ledger is not shown taking drugs in the video.
In a statement Entertainment Tonight said: "Out of respect for Heath Ledger's family, Entertainment Tonight and The Insider have decided not to run the Heath Ledger video which has been circulating in the world media."

Shine a Light

The music of the Rolling Stones has lit up the soundtrack to so many Martin Scorsese films ("Gimme Shelter" has appeared in no less than three of his features--GOODFELLAS, CASINO, and THE DEPARTED) that it's little surprise to find the director teaming up with the legendary rockers for this concert recording. SHINE A LIGHT begins with a few glimpses of the preparation that went into the recording of the show, which was staged over two nights at New York City's Beacon Theatre in 2006. Scorsese also includes some candid footage of the Stones doing a pre-show meet-and-greet with guests Bill and Hillary Clinton, which highlights some of the different personality traits in the band. Keith Richards and Ron Wood are the clowns, always goofing around; Mick Jagger is the consummate professional, always polite to a fault; Charlie Watts caries a real air of dignity, as befits someone who enjoys a dual career as a noted jazz musician.

The bulk of the movie is dedicated to the multi-camera shoot at the Beacon, which captures the Stones playing some of their biggest hits and a few lesser-known numbers. Special guests such as Jack White, Buddy Guy, and Christina Aguilera are ushered on at various points in the show, and the concert footage is broken up by some amusing vintage footage of the band. By using so many cameras, Scorsese captures a side of the Stones that is rarely seen, such as Watts turning to camera and puffing out his cheeks and Richards offering encouraging words to Jack White as he exits the stage. SHINE A LIGHT provides a welcome glimpse into the Stones' world at this advanced stage in their career, and continues Scorsese's obsession (see also: NO DIRECTION HOME and THE LAST WALTZ) with documenting some of the most influential characters in rock & roll.
